PHOTO GALLERY ONE:

SHIP IMAGES

The photographs in this gallery are full-vessel images of the U.S.S. ERIE, arranged in order by the date of the original photograph, when known.  They were taken during  the period July 1936 (shortly after commissioning) through September 19, 1942 (the last official picture before she was torpedoed on November 12, 1942).

Most of these pictures are scans of U.S. Navy photographs in collections held by the National Archives and Records Administration II (College Park, Maryland) and the U.S. Naval Historical Center (Washington, D.C).  Other pictures are owned by the site administrator or were provided to him by crew members or relatives of crew members.  All are in the public domain and may be freely copied.
